First of all you cannot ignore the fact that Wiltshire is one of the most iconic places in the world nestled in it’s rural beauty of Salisbury plain. It is Stonehenge which accounts for over half of English Heritage’s visitor figures every year. The Majestic stones are not the only ancient monument that the county has. There is also the large site of Avebury, not far from Swindon which is one of the biggest Stone circles in the world. There are also lots of Hill forts from the Iron age to go and wander around. Barbury Castle is one of the largest, and unspoilt sites there is.
