  1. Clarity: Clarify your team’s vision and mission. Have your team create a mission and vision if you don’t have one. Clarify the timelines and goals for specific projects. The team must function. Make clear the level of authority each member has in relation to specific projects.

2. Commitment: Determine the level of commitment for your team. Show your commitment personally and tell your team what makes it (or the particular project) important to you, and the team. Each team member should answer the following questions: Why are you so committed to this team or project? What are your hopes and dreams as a team member? 3. Contribution: Find out the strengths and weaknesses of your team. Ask each member of your team to answer the following questions: What skills, knowledge and/or expertise can you bring to the team or project? What is your opinion of your role in this team (or on this project)? Instead of immediately delegating tasks to your team, ask them to suggest assignments based upon their potential contributions.

4. Concerns: Give your team members the opportunity to express their concerns, questions, or comments. Now is the time to pose the following questions: Do you have any worries about the work in the team or current project? What can we as a group improve?
