Any Paralympian from any country deserves our respect and admiration. However, some are incredibly successful at what they do and their achievements. Given their circumstances, they are amazing. Britain has produced a slew of great Paralympians throughout the last 20 years, and one of the most impressive is Hannah Cockcroft. She, like many others, uses Mobility Aids like those from www.abilitysuperstore.com/. She has learned to make the chair an extension of herself.
Hannah has one of the most impressive feats ever recorded to her name. She holds records for 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres, 800 metres and 1500 metres in her classification and the Paralympic records at 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres and 800 metres. That is an incredible achievement. No non-disabled person has come even close to that amount.
Her disability has been with her from birth, but she has never let it hold her back. Unable to walk long distances without the aid of a wheelchair, Hannah learned to turn this into an advantage. Initially turned away from the sport at Primary school, she competed in seated discus and wheelchair basketball. Discovered by Tanni Grey Thompson’s husband, Ian, he offered to train her and introduced her to the Paralympic association. It’s a good job he did. She’s won nothing but Gold in every Paralympic event she’s been in.
It wasn’t easy; her dance school donated their entire show takings to buy her a racing wheelchair. Even then, her Dad, a welder, had to adapt it for her to use!
