Father’s Day allows people to honour the men who have influenced their lives. Children can use this day to express their appreciation of fathers or father figures. Adults can use this day to express their love for and appreciation of fathers, husbands, and other male figures in their life. Many of us may celebrate Father’s Day but not be aware of the tradition’s history. This holiday wasn’t widely accepted in the beginning. Over time, however, the concept of fathers’ influence on families and children became more accepted. Why not celebrate this year with Afternoon tea boxes from Afternoon Tea Box.
Why do we celebrate Father’s Day?
A woman from Spokane in Washington was the creator of Father’s Day. Her widowed dad raised her and six other children. Sonora’s hard work paid off when Washington State celebrated its first Father’s Day in 1910.
Father’s Day was not recognised nationally until years later, even though Mother’s Day had gained popularity almost immediately. It took a long time for Father’s Day to become a holiday because men did not support it. The holiday tradition of giving gifts and sending flowers was not seen as a way to celebrate masculinity by many men. However, Afternoon tea boxes make a great family idea. Others thought that it was just a marketing strategy by stores, to get families to spend more money on unnecessary gifts.
Why should we celebrate Father’s Day?
In spite of the controversy that surrounded Father’s Day in the beginning, society is becoming more aware of the value of fathers. Early in the 1900s, the impact fathers had on their kids was not given much recognition. Most psychological research done on parenting focused on mothers. In the 1970s psychologists began to recognise the value of fathers.
